Pedestal & Sculptural Side Tables - Considered Forms, Crafted With Care
Shape-first furniture for homes that take design seriously. Explore FableRoom's collection of decorative pedestal tables, organic forms, and sculptural side tables, handcrafted, fairly priced, and built to hold a room's attention.
When a Table Becomes a Sculpture
Most furniture does its job quietly. A pedestal table does something more, It earns attention before anything is placed on it. The conical base. The fluted column. The travertine disc balanced on an impossibly slender stem. These are pieces chosen for their shape first and their surface second, and that distinction changes everything about how a room feels.
At FableRoom, our Pedestal & Sculptural collection brings together 40 side tables and coffee tables that treat form as a feature rather than an afterthought. Every piece here is handcrafted by artisans working with marble, solid wood, terrazzo, and iron, and priced significantly below what comparable sculptural furniture costs at other UK retailers. The result is a collection where your budget goes further without your design ambitions shrinking to match.
What's Here In The Collection and Why It Works?
Marble & Stone - Weight, Warmth, Permanence
Marble has been the material of choice for sculptural objects for centuries, and for good reason. It carries visual weight without visual noise. A marble pedestal side table doesn't compete with surrounding furniture; it anchors it.
Cassian Marble Side Table - One of the most-requested pieces in the collection. The Cassian's rounded marble top sits on a sculptural base that draws the eye without demanding it. Available in grey and beige colourways for those who prefer softer tones.
Petra Marble Side Table - Ready to ship, and a consistent favourite for its organic form. The Petra's silhouette reads differently from every angle, a quality that separates genuinely sculptural pieces from those that simply have an unusual base.
Ambrose Marble-Iron Side Table - A Summer Sale standout. The combination of marble and iron gives the Ambrose an industrial edge that sits surprisingly well in contemporary and eclectic interiors. It represents exceptional value for a handcrafted piece of this quality.
Solace Travertine Side Table - Travertine brings a textured, earthy warmth that polished marble can't replicate. The Solace suits natural and organic-modern interiors particularly well, and its neutral palette works across a wide range of colour schemes.
Wood - Organic Form, Natural Character
Solid wood decorative pedestal tables have a quality that stone cannot match: every piece is genuinely unique. Grain patterns, natural variation, and the subtle imperfections of hand-craftsmanship are the details that make wooden sculptural furniture feel alive in a room.
Opal Wooden Side Table - The most of any wood piece in the collection. The Opal's smooth, rounded form reads as quietly sculptural rather than overtly statement-making. Ready to ship, and one of the most versatile pieces in the range.
Nysa Wooden Side Table - The Nysa's organic silhouette and warm finish make it an accessible entry point into sculptural home decor, one that works beside a sofa, armchair, or bed with equal ease.
Kyra Totem-Shaped Wooden Side Table - A totem-shaped column that feels closer to contemporary sculpture than furniture, until you set a lamp on it. The Kyra is one of the boldest pieces in the collection and one of the most photographed by customers.
Ivie & Eben Wooden Side Tables - Both pieces share a clean, pared-back sculptural language that suits minimal and Scandi-influenced interiors. At £105, they are the most accessible entry into the collection.
Terrazzo & Mixed Materials
Maverik Terrazzo Side Table - The most dramatically discounted piece in the collection, and one of the most distinctive. Terrazzo's speckled surface makes the Maverik a genuinely unique object in a room; no two pieces are quite the same.
How to Style a Pedestal or Sculptural Side Table?
Let the base breathe. The defining quality of a modern pedestal table is its base: a conical column, an organic wooden form, a fluted stem. Don't obscure it with a trailing plant or a stack of books. A single lamp, a small vase, or one well-chosen object is all a sculptural piece needs on its surface.
Use it as a room's focal point. Statement furniture earns its name by drawing the eye in an otherwise calm room. Place a marble pedestal against a plain wall, beside a sofa with simple upholstery, or in a corner that needs an anchor. The surrounding simplicity makes the piece more powerful, not less.
Pair contrasting materials. A wooden sculptural table beside a linen sofa. A marble pedestal on a jute rug. Contemporary sculpture decor works best when materials contrast: the hardness of stone against soft textiles, the warmth of wood against cool painted walls.
Don't match - coordinate. Pedestal tables are individual objects. Rather than buying two identical pieces, choose two pieces that share a quality: similar height, complementary material, related tone, while remaining distinct. The effect is curated rather than matched.
Which Pedestal Table Suits Your Space? A Quick Guide
A marble pedestal table is best for living rooms and hallways where you want a cooler, more polished look. It works especially well in contemporary, eclectic or glam interiors, adding a formal and elevated feel.
Travertine is softer and warmer, making it a strong choice for living rooms or bedrooms. It suits organic modern, natural and minimal spaces, bringing in an earthy, textured quality.
Solid wood pedestal tables feel more relaxed and tactile. They work well in bedrooms and living rooms, especially across Scandi, bohemian and transitional interiors where warmth and natural character matter.
Terrazzo is a better fit when you want the table to add personality. It works nicely in living rooms or studies, and suits eclectic, mid-century and modern spaces with a playful, graphic edge.
Marble and iron works well in living rooms and hallways where the table needs to feel bold and architectural. It suits industrial, contemporary and glam interiors, creating a more striking look.
Totem or sculptural wood tables are ideal for corners, nooks or living room spaces that need a statement piece. They suit eclectic, artistic and bohemian interiors, adding a more expressive, one-of-a-kind feel.

FAQs
- What is a pedestal table?
A pedestal table is supported by a single central column rather than four legs. The base functions as a design feature in its own right, making it as much a decorative object as a functional surface.
- Is a pedestal table sturdier?
A: Yes, when well-made. The single column distributes weight evenly across the base, eliminating the wobble that uneven floors can cause with four-legged tables. The key is a broad, weighted base, which all FableRoom pedestal pieces have.
- What table design is trending now?
A: Organic, sculptural forms are dominating interior design right now: asymmetric bases, natural stone tops, and totem-shaped columns. The move is away from uniform, mass-produced silhouettes and towards pieces that feel handcrafted and considered. Pedestal and sculptural side tables sit squarely at the centre of this shift.
- What materials are best for a sculptural side table?
A: Marble and travertine suit contemporary and eclectic interiors. Solid wood adds warmth and natural character. Terrazzo brings texture and visual interest. The right choice depends on the mood of the room.
- How do I style a sculptural side table without it looking out of place?
A: Keep the surroundings simple: plain walls, neutral upholstery, and let the piece be the focal point. A single lamp or one object on the surface is far more effective than a cluttered top.
